Pediatric Affiliates - Asthma Inhaled Steroids

Inhaled steroids are medicines used to prevent symptoms and control asthma. Inhaled steroids will not help make your child's breathing easier once early warning signs have started. They must be taken every day in order to work. Inhaled steroids are taken by a metered dose inhaler. When taken daily, inhaled steroids work to decrease the redness and swelling in your child's airways and make the airways less sensitive to triggers, such as pollens, dust, and pet dander.
