Newborns are not automatically covered under your insurance. They are covered while still in the hospital but this coverage ceases once the child is discharged. Therefore, after discharge from the hospital you, as the parent, must enroll the child before the 30th day of life. Please do not allow this to happen because failure to enroll prior to the 30th day of life will require you wait until “open enrollment”. Once enrolled, the insurance company will cover your child back to their date of birth. Please ensure that, if your policy requires you list a PCP (Primary Care Provider) on the enrollment form, that you list one of our doctors. If you do not list one of our physicians, the insurance company may deny payment of any claim.
