Requesting a Civilian Pediatrician

If you wear the uniform, you have the power to access a system outside of the military. We know that navigating the healthcare waters can be difficult – we want to make it easier for military parents. By embracing the civilian healthcare option, you can ensure that your child receives the highest quality care while enjoying the benefits of increased transparency in their medical journey.

Benefits of Visiting a Civilian Doctor

  • Consistent Pediatrician – don’t worry about relaying your medical history to a revolving door of pediatricians. At Pediatric Affiliates, you’ll see either Dr. Bob Lehman or Dr. Nancy Wick.
  • Transparency – access to comprehensive information about treatment options and history.
  • 24-Hour Doc on Call – when your child is sick, you’ll have access to our doctors. Day or night, give us a call and we’ll advise you on the best plan of action for your child’s health.
  • Same-Day Sick Visits – if we are unable to advise a treatment plan over the phone, we have same-day sick visits available to all patients.

How To Request Us

Reach out to TRICARE or your military healthcare provider to inquire about the process of requesting a civilian pediatrician. They can provide you with specific information, guidelines, and any necessary paperwork or forms that need to be completed.

Depending on your specific TRICARE plan or military healthcare program, you may need to obtain a referral or authorization to see a civilian pediatrician. This step ensures that the healthcare services will be covered by your insurance plan. Contact your primary care manager (PCM) or the appropriate military healthcare office to initiate this process.

 Parents of Newborns: Once your baby is born, you have a 90-day grace period to register on DEERS (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System). To enroll, parents need to submit a birth certificate, SSN card, and marriage certificate (if enrolling a stepchild).
